How is your site performing?

Do you monitor your website performance?

Having a website without visitors is like being the only one in the boardroom for the meeting!

Are you taking the time to look at your stats? All hosting accounts as a rule come with the addition of Stats. Stats will show you how many visitors your site is getting per day and per month, how many of those visitors are a "Unique Visitor" ie: first time visitor to your site, how many are a returning customer as well as their geographical location and the search terms they used to find your site.

If you are not analysing these statistics at least every month your site is surely going to suffer because this is the single most important way of seeing if your visitors are finding what they want on your site.

What will the stats tell you:

How many visitors per day/week/month
The country the visitor is from
What times of the day
Most frequent IP address of visitors
Which search engines have spidered your site and the date
Average visit duration of your visitors
Most popular pages viewed on the site
What operating system and browser the visitor was using
Main sites linking to your site
Keyphrases and keywords used to find your site
Error list of page not found 404 error etc

This information is already available from your host (or should be) look in your control panel for "AW Stats" "Webalizer" "Analog" or "Urchin" if you do not see any of the above in your control panel then email your host and ask them for a link to your stats page, maybe try www.yourdomainname.co.uk/stats as this is sometimes were you will find your stats information (replace the yourdomainname section with your actual domain name).

If you have some html knowledge then create a google account and you can install google analytics to give you more stats such as bounce page % as well as sale conversion data.

Make A Child Smile

Teesweb was pleased to be able to offer its services to a local charity named "Bike Appeal" the Charity has been recently formed by local business man Lee Blackburn to help under privileged children each Christmas to get a brand new bike!

TFM and Metro Radio have been big supporters of "Make A Child Smile" and Lee has worked with them for many years raising funds to help the local children, then recently on a trip to China Lee realised just how cheap he could source new bikes for the kids, it would be a shame if a child had to go without a new bike for Christmas!

So Lee launched http://www.bike-appeal.co.uk/ a site based on the "Million Dollar Pixel" concept which allows people to donate cash and in return they get advertising space on the website to advertise their business or anything they want. Why not take a look and maybe even consider making a child smile?

DietHell.co.uk approached Teesweb to build them an information based website which would also allow their Weight Management Clients to login and see their progress.

Teesweb created a project based on the clients needs as well as doing independent research into similar sites to ensure that diethell.co.uk got everything it needed to be competitive in the Weight Loss industry.

The overall outcome was a fully functional site that got the offline members not only involved in the website but dependant on it, and the client was very happy with the end result.
